Derecho trains students in the legal principles, codes, and procedures that structure Dominican society, from civil and criminal law to constitutional and commercial law. Students learn legal research, case analysis, argumentation, and dispute resolution. Graduates solve problems like defending a client's rights, structuring a business transaction to comply with regulation, or resolving a conflict outside of court through negotiation or mediation. It remains one of the most traditional and consistently pursued degrees in the country, with graduates entering litigation, corporate law, public service, and the judiciary.
