Optometría

Optometría trains students to examine eyes, diagnose vision problems, and prescribe corrective lenses or refer patients for further treatment. Coursework covers ocular anatomy, vision science, and clinical examination technique. Graduates solve problems like diagnosing common vision impairments, fitting corrective lenses, and identifying early signs of eye disease that require specialist referral. It is a newer program in the Dominican Republic, currently offered through a single institution in partnership with a Puerto Rican university, making it a genuinely distinctive pathway for interested students.
